Hi, all!

I signed on a while back and have already benefited from a couple of pointers here, but haven't been by to sound off on this thread yet. I don't spend an awful lot of time trawling the forums, but here's me:

I'm a prepress operator with a little (rapidly-fading) mailing experience, coming up on seven years in the business in the Twin Cities. My shop runs Heidelberg's Prinect workflow and SignaStation imposition–I miss Metrix–supporting a small assortment of Heidelberg offset and Xerox digital presses. I rely on other people for Photoshop wizardry, but I enjoy working in InDesign and have become kind of handy-ish with Pitstop.

On my own time, I've just taken up indoor rock wall climbing, and have studied Japanese swordsmanship going on eight years. I hold my first-degree black belt under one of the organizations my school belongs to, and am inching ever closer to a more demanding first-degree in the other.

I'll see you all around!

I'm Randy and I work in an implant shop for one of our local colleges. I've been in printing for 27 years, 20 of that being in a commercial print shop and the rest here at the college. I've been running press all that time plus teaching press class the last few years. It's been a rewarding career. My first question here in the forum is: Are we able to post things for sale? I have a surplus piece of equipment and would like to sell it. Thanks

Printing passion

Printing passion

Hello, hello to all!
I am François and have been involved with the printing industry for the last 28 years. I am an electrical engineer by trade and therefore very much interested with new technologies related to printing and paper converting. By the way, I think there should be a forum dedicated to converting/packaging. Many people deal with this kind of equipment and have their own set of problems and issues. It would be nice to share among all.
I have worked for a couple of press manufacturers, Manroland and Vickers and then moved on to start my own technical service company in Illinois where I provide repair services and parts for printing presses. I like what I do and alleviate some of the stress with my other passion: die-cast race car models, particularly Formula1 and Indy Cars. My very first job out of engineering school was working for Renault F1 race team and the passion has never left me since, even though the cars I deal with are a bit smaller now. Lots of good stuff in these forums! I am still learning it seems. Many interesting people and I want to believe that printing will never die because of them.
