Web4print

Hi Everybody my name is Barry and I work for a company called Documation ( but I tend to call it web4print because its easier for people to remember!)

We are a software development company based in Dublin Ireland. We work largely with printing companies or companies that have a regular print output and our main aim is to help them save money and expand their business. We do this through increasing job accuracy, reducing turn around time and strengthening customer loyalty.

In short we provide Web-to-print solutions. More and more options seem to be available each week, but we pride ourselves on providing an extremely customizable solution at a far lower cost than our competitors. I'm aware of various companies which offer a less comprehensive system than ours for prices in the region of $30 - 80k!!! Ours costs a fraction of this!

Anyway I’m involved in marketing for the company so I thought I’d check out what’s being said in the industry!

Feel free to come talk to me any time!!

We do lots of unconventional work for consumer corporations. Our set-up is Artpro/Nexus/Backstage with Kodak NX & Epson GMG at the back end. Any help in these areas will be greatly appreciated in advance.

Hello...Please read this or I'll get fired!

Hello Everyone!

I'm the IT Manager and Web Developer for ADCOPrint.com. We are a Tampa Printing company. My job is to basically understand, deploy and manage websites, web2print, and run IT operations here. We launched a new website with web2print this week Tampa Printing, Wholesale Printing Tampa, Tampa Print. After hundreds of vendor interviews I'm tired!

What do you guys think about web2print? Some people are placing entire initiatives on it and others want nothing to do with it. I personally think it's great for basic items, corporate repeat items etc.... but generally don't think it will really be a hit to create more complex items....at least not yet.

Look forward to talking with you guys!..and No I'm not getting fired now!

Re: Introduce yourself!

Hello all,

I'm the former owner operator of a small indie record label who has joined up with a friend's event and street team marketing company and been assigned the task of starting up an in house digital print arm. The idea is to vertically integrate the print services with the rest of the biz and start printing the handbills and posters that our clients are sourcing elsewhere.

We've got a Canon Imagepress C1+ and a Duplo DC-615 and run it all in a Mac environment. This is my first time on the other side of the printing process, so I'm really encountering a steep learning curve.

My big issues at the moment are all related to imposition. Only recently did i realize that there were more affect tools to print multiple items per page than manually laying out in InDesign. Of course the imposition features on Fiery's CWS are only windows compatible, so short of running parallels or such, does anyone have a recommendation for an OS X native imposition application? And for that matter, what other advantages do imposition software packages offer over my rudimentary InDesign method?

thanks

Barry,

Your right our website is still in the development stages and we hope to have it up and running by the end of the year, fingers crossed. We certainly want to use a Web-to-print solution but are only in the rearch stage as of now. I had a quick look at your website and didnt see any specific section on your web-to-print solution. Any additional information would be appreciated.

Hey Chris

First of all thanks for checking out our website. We are actualyl in the process of designing a brand new website that I think will be far more useful to users. It will still be Web-to-Print solutions for Variable Data Printing document production but we've been working hard to have it broken down into sections to make it much easier to navigate. I will let every one know when its up and running as i'd love to hear some feed back.
In terms of our web-to-print offering, although we are not amongst the industry big boys right now, we feel that we can match them in terms of functionality and beat them in terms of customisation and price.
We offer both a hosted and a licenced solution. The hosted solution has set up costs of around €750 with a monthly fee of around €150. Compare this to set up costs of $8995 and monthly costs of $1000 for EFI and $9990/ $1000 for press-sense.

Our licensed solution starts at €12500 which is considerably cheaper than bitstream $30,000, Kodak $26,000, Printable $74,000 and thats just to name a few!!

The question im sure your asking is whether our system is as good?! I would be more than happy to demo to you so you can make that decision yourself.

Your UK based? where abouts? we are located in Dublin

Barry

Hi-

My name is Andrew Harary and I am the SVP of Operations and partner of Village Print- a 24/7, on demand digital print provider in the heart of NYC. We run on Indigo 5000 and Docucolor 5000 presses. We also have a wide format dept that runs HP Dreamcolor machinery. We run both Mac and PC stations, and my prepress techs have a complete knowledge of most software suites. The company has been in existence for 35 years. I have been involved for the last 13. I have managed all 3 shifts at our corporate location and have managed a few of our 5 retail locations as well. Even as an owner of the company I am currently engaged in heavy amounts of sales work (as I'm sure many of you are). Business has been more of a rollercoaster ride as of late, and I am hoping to get back to a more even flow in Sept.
I have a beautiful wife who puts up with my crazy hours, and 2 amazing little girls ages 4 and 2.
I like the work hard, but play harder way of life. My hobbies are snowboarding (i dream about powder year round), fishing, volleyball, cycling, running. We are always looking for good offset matches for our company, so if you happen to be nearby let me know.

Nice meeting you all-

Andrew :D

Hi everybody,

My name is Steve Byrne and I am the branding manager for a print aggregation software company called 2gotools. Our system provides custom portals that allow our corporate clients to order their printed marketing materials with the push of a button. The system selects from a large pool of data on printing vendors and then matches the print job with best possible price with the right printing solution. We believe the aggregation advantages of this system is similar to those of Priceline, LendingTree and the like and as such this system will revolutionize the printing industry over the next several years. Thanks for your interest.
